About our Facility
The Community Y Competition Swim Natatorium boasts eight 7' lap lanes with an extra 2' on the outside of lanes 1 and 8.  All lanes are lined with 6" lane ropes that "eat" water wake and knock down reverberation to maximize swimming splits.  4'-5' waters in the shallow end of the pool are designed with a vertical bottom fed pool inlet distribution system which provides a great amount of hydraulic lift for the athlete.  12.5' waters in the deep end ensure the proper depth for our (2) 1 meter Duraflex Maxiflex B spring boards. 80 degree water cascades over the outer edges of the pool via a "rim flow" gutter design making it one of the fastest pools in the Midwest.  Swimming athletes receive the greatest possible percentage of an oxygenated breath due to a unique air inlet system that sweeps the pool surface clean of heavy chlorimine gases that may settle to the surface.  With all the combined technology implemented in this pool we have proved to be one of the best designed pools in Iowa.  Spectators are comfortable in one of our 1700 well lit, humidity and temperature controlled bleacher seats.  We have the means of adding a 100 seats on deck with additional portable bleachers.  Every seat in the house is equivalent to a pool side view with our newly installed 22 foot video projection system including 4 live cameras that capture the race on our independently engineered and designed "Jumbotron" video system.  The system was conceived, engineered, designed, specified, partially funded and installed by our swim team parent group and is a fantastic addition to an already great accommodations.

Community Y of Marshalltown
In January of 2004 the Community Y opened the Horne Henry Center named after Virginia Horne Henry. Virginia Horne Henry was honored with the building name after she endowed $28,000,000 to the Marshalltown Community Y which is a chartered YMCA and YWCA. The Community Y is a full fledged fitness and Community Center including Competition Lap Pool, Recreational Pool, 2 full court gymnasium, racquet ball facility, 2 aerobic studios, 1 spinning room, 1/11 mile long track, 3 separate cardio/weight studios, adult locker rooms, child locker rooms and family locker areas, day care, social area, pool party room, concession stand and administrative area. All of this encompasses our architecturally beautiful 120,000 square foot factility. To the East of our campus we still program and operate our previous Y building now known as the Cultural Center. The cultural center is a 60,000 square foot facility dedicated to the arts, people and much more. To the West lies the Marshalltown Family Aquatic Center, a seasonal City owned facility that is managed and operated by the Community Y from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Put all of these facilities together and you have the Marshalltown Community Y Campus!
